This week has been both busy and adventurous, starting the week very skint and a bleak outlook ahead, im ending the week with various jobs on the go, and have signed a contract with a London based web design company Kerma Interactive.

As well as that i still had a little bit of time to work on a cover design for Little White Lies – Where The Wild Things Are cover competition.

Thats right, two of my biggest inspirations merge there talents for this beautifully bizzare sequence from the 1945 movie “Spellbound”.

Thanks to the guys at itsnicethat for posting this and reminding me how awesome it was.

This is the second illustration of my ongoing personal project The October Compositions, this illustration yet again pictures another charecter, this time its “The Makavelian Dr Pendau”, a sinister looking charecter, living within an experimental landscape somewhere between dali and steampunk.

Another piece for the collection next week.

One film that i have been eagerly anticipating for the past year or so, is the latest outing from visionary director Spike Jonze (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich) “Where The Wild Things Are”. This is adapted from a book of the same name that i read as a child written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

The film is due out very soon (Around November, I believe), and i just heard the fantastic soundtrack by Karen O & The Kids (Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs Fame). To say the least I am very exctited, even the posters earthy tones and handwritten font reflect that of the book, yet still give it a new modern lease of life that works very well.

Last night i was lucky enough to meet and watch live a great new band…Band Of Skulls.

These guys were brilliant and im sure they have a bright future ahead, here is one track in particular that i loved:

Over the month of October i will launching my own self directed project. The October Compositions as it will be known, will be a collection of experimental collage/montage compositions based on various themes and subject matters, from the dark and macabre to the bright and fantastical.

I was asked a few days ago to create some posters for an Upcoming music festival here in Cardiff, called SWN (pronounced “soon”).

The festival now in its third year takes place in various venues across the city over one weekend, and has loads of bands taking part.
